What are early-warning signals in borrower reporting?

Common early-warning signals include financials that differ between the compliance certificate and monthly package, growing EBITDA add-backs, shrinking covenant headroom, late or incomplete reporting, deposits that do not match reported revenue, new factoring or affiliate arrangements, and collateral that appears in more than one borrowing base. Each signal warrants a question, not a conclusion.
